    Kiwi – Kiwis are actually native to New Zealand.

    Just a few come to mind… – What about the cassowary, emu, rhea, ostrich, kiwi, kakapo, takahe, and so on and so forth….?

    Well… – I have to agree with malfie
    Australia: Emu, Cassowary, a few species of penguin. New Zealand: Kiwi, not to be confused with the fruit with a similar appearance. South Africa: Rhea.
    To be honest I do not know the locations of the others… but there are more…

    chickens – chickens have wings thats why in KFC u can buy deep fat fried chicken wings. #1onhispedial chickens turkeys orstiches emus all have wings they just cant use them. well then can flap them all day but they wont fly. damn i was gonna say dodo too didnt it look like a puffin??

    Incorrect – To save a lot of worthless comments. The current fact about the penguin being the only flightless bird, is quite farcical and the people of the Discovery Channel are obviously not qualified to realise that they are erroneous in their follacious facts. There are quite a number of ‘birds’ which cannot fly.

    Chickens – Chickens can fly, but only the wild ones. Chickens in captivity were overfed so much that it was actually inserted into their gene pool that they were too fat to fly. If you find a truly wild chicken (which is AMAZINGLY hard nowadays) it will problably fly away.

    dude thats not true – dude i saw a penguin fly. and it was like..dude, i’m a penguin. and i am flying. so tell that liar that penguins can too fly and we’re fast as hell too. plus we are dressed nicer and walk cooler, to tell the truth we are the coolest bird ever…..and i was like..ok penguin sounds good…so then i told you!

    oooooooo – technically they “fly” under water
    they beat their wings as if they are flying but they are just underwater

    SHUT UP!!! – I mean really!!! Penguins are classed as flying birds, just because they don’t fly above land doesn’t mean they can’t fly. Kudos to my biology teacher. The moa is another bird in history that could not fly. A moa was a native New Zealand bird if you are ignorant. The Kiwi cannot fly. Another New Zealand native bird. There are many other flightless birds, as the other comments have pointed out. Suffice to say that this site has some really, really, stupid facts, and whoever submitted that fact should take 6th form Biology in New Zealand. P.S. Loving DudeDudeCheckOneDude’s comment, sounds like it came from one of my friends…
