First PC

The first personal computer was called the Altair and was made by a company called MITS in 1974. It came in a kit and had to be assembled by the user.

  1. Altair – Actually, it did come assembled, as well.
Probably the rarest of the MITS Personal Computers is the 680b!
After loading paper tape BASIC, if you immediately hit the “A” key on your Teletype (or other keyboard input device), you will get a display of MITS BASIC’s authors!
